POSITION SUMMARY:

The main responsibilities of our Transportation Manager are in overseeing the collections activities in one or more lines of business in a geographically dispersed area. The Transportation Manager oversees drivers and helpers and works with the Director of Operations to provide the leadership within the assigned area and act as the liaison between customers, operations, drivers and the support team. Responsibilities include a deep focus on safety, providing outstanding service to our customers, driving efficiencies in order to increase productivity and support a culture of driving employee engagement. This position also ensures adherence to all safety and accident prevention programs and leads operations to ensure compliance with all environmental, operating, regulatory, accounting, ethics and other standards.

TEAM

  • Create a collaborative, communicative team environment with the goal of driving team engagement with in the company.
  • Establish and communicate performance standards and objectives.
  • Monitor department work productivity, report on trends, recommend changes to improve work productivity and implement those changes.
  • Review payroll hours for work efficiency, monitoring overtime and ensuring accuracy.

 

SAFETY

  • Understand and provide leadership to achieve and communicate about safety goals and objectives.
  • Work to remove unsafe conditions or situations from drivers' routes.
  • Work with the sales team to identify and eliminate any unsafe conditions on new route or for new customers.
  • Partner with the fleet maintenance department to ensure all equipment remains in working order and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries; ensure a safe and productive work environment for all team members.
  • Conduct and/or attend/interact in periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED, bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two or more years of Transportation/Logistic experience required, demonstrating the ability to plan and supervise the work of others
  • Class A or B CDL license with air brakes endorsement
  • Computer savvy Microsoft Office proficient with the ability to learn and leverage routing systems to drive efficiencies.
  • Politeness, confidence, tact, patience and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems
  • Prior safety inspection/OBA experience preferred
